Are you planning to install fences around your house? Do fences do more than just give protection and privacy to your house? Robert Frost the American poet rightly pointed out that Good fences make good neighbors. When you install fences around your house your dog would not be able to run out of your house and bark at people. This helps build good relationships in the community. Fences also add to the beauty of your home and garden and make it a secure place to live in.
Some children enjoy playing outside and may request to do so on more than one occasion. The backyard could be set up for children to play with mini playground structures picnic tables and sand toys. When there is no protective barrier around the yard children will be exposed to the potential of strangers. Criminals can approach children quickly and engage in a conversation with them. It does not take long to have a child kidnapped right from their own yard. Parents who leave their children in the backyard and watch them from the window could have a false sense of trust as they believe that their own backyard is safe. The truth may be that quiet neighborhoods are as much at risk as city backyard spaces. When a criminal walks down the street and sees a child playing alone it could put that child at risk for being taken. The Department of Justice has reports of many children who go missing every day; many of these crimes happen in their own neighborhood.
When someone moves into a brand-new house it may not have any fencing up. The exposed house could mean that people can walk past or through the grounds and look into windows as they do. When a stranger is able to walk through a property and look into the windows of a home it could put many things at risk. Strangers can see what is in the house by looking in the windows. They can also see who is in the home and what they are doing. Strangers have the potential to watch people through the windows to view their pattern or routine of living. Burglars will often watch a property for a few days before they decide to perform a robbery on it.
Every day kids are kidnapped from their families. These children may be taken from their own backyard or from in front of their house. It only takes seconds for a child to go missing and in many cases their parents were doing their best to keep them safe. Unfortunately criminals look for potential victims and they especially look for kids who are easily attainable.
People who place their pets in the backyard on leashes may be placing them in harms way. That is because tying a dog or cat on a leash in the backyard could put them at risk for an animal attack. Coyotes will often prey on backyard animals as their choice of meals. When a pet is exposed to the wild and is tied on a leash it can put them in danger from other animals both wild and domestic. Pets in the backyard are also at risk of being kidnapped by a person. Criminals who want a dog but do not want to pay for one may see a pet tied up in a yard and simply put it in their car. Popular breeds may be more at risk than just average mutts. Expensive breeds and puppies may be at a greater risk for theft. Puppies and pure-bred dogs can be kidnapped and sold for profit. The Department of Justice has reports of many pet thefts and discusses the profit that can come from it.
